Cravings is a story about a "genius" high school student who creates a pill that transforms women into beautiful and sexy... sex slaves, who wind up craving the cum of whoever they touch first. As you can guess, the theme of this story is mind control, which is a theme common in many of JR Parz' stories. This story is a little different however, in that it isn't your typical MC story. I don't want to spoil the surprise for all of the readers, but I will just tell them not to look at the summary of this story and go into it with a preconceived notion of what it's going to be about and what's going to happen.
I don't usually say this about BE stories, but I feel Cravings' strongest aspect is it's pacing. At first it's a little hard to follow because the story is made up of so many short scenes, which switch back and forth between the characters. But after I started reading back over the story, I felt that it was a very interesting way to pace the story and keep the reader interested. JR Parz juggles a lot of characters back and forth, and you really get a sense of urgency at certain points as the scene shifts to a different character. Maybe it's just me, but I thought that was pretty cool and original. It's kind of like a play, sort of.
There are a lot of good breast expansion scenes in this story, but most of them happen early in the story and then there is not so much later. It was a little misleading and disappointing to me. As a breast expansion fan, I was very very excited when the story first began, because the BE scenes were so exciting and descriptive. We are treated to a a real "show" with the female character as she is discovering her body changes and her situation. Then as the story progressed, the emphasis of the plot shifted and I became a little impatient and started skimming through the story looking to see if there was more of the stuff like in the beginning - there's a little, but the later scenes aren't nearly as great as the first one. I know a lot of readers may fall into the same trap as me when they read this, so I'm just warning them ahead of time.
I know there are more than a few people out there who do not like JR Parz' stories, because so many of them contain mind control themes. When I read this story, I can see where those people are coming from. It does have a heavy mind control theme, and in the end that tends to overshadow the breast expansion and body transformation elements. I want to stress the point that I feel Parz is very different from most other MC writers, and the reason for this is that he actually deals with the issue of morality within his stories. This story in particular is a prime example of how atypical of MC story JR Parz can write. Without giving too big of a spoiler away, there is one good scene in which the characters discuss whether or not a sex slave can actually be made to love one another. Good stuff.
As you can understand, all of this makes Cravings a very difficult story to review, because I know at the end of the day there are still going to be people who get past the primary BE/transformation scenes and feel the story is boring. I guess you just can't please all of the readers, all of the time, but to help this matter I also think JR Parz is a very good erotic fiction writer - a point that I've argued frequently with people in the past. There are just a lot of great sex scenes in here too, so even if people aren't crazy about the theme or feel there isn't enough BE in the story, maybe they can still find something to like about it anyway. As for me, I am pleased to have this story and I feel it adds some much-needed diversity to our collection.
